Good Faith Estimate

Last updated October 14, 2026

Under the No Surprises Act, individuals who do not have health insurance or who choose not to use their insurance to pay for psychotherapy services have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges.

While it is not possible to know in advance how many psychotherapy sessions may be necessary or appropriate for a particular person, the information below provides an estimate of the potential cost of services. Your total cost will depend on the number of sessions you attend, your individual circumstances, and the frequency and duration of treatment.

This estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to receive any services. It is also not intended to serve as a recommendation for treatment or a prediction of how many sessions you may need. We will discuss your treatment needs and goals collaboratively, and you may choose to discontinue treatment at any time.

My fee for a 50-minute individual psychotherapy session is $250. Many clients attend therapy once per week, particularly at the beginning of treatment, while others attend biweekly or at a different frequency depending on their needs.

For clients attending weekly sessions, the estimated cost of 4–5 sessions per month is $1,000–$1,250.

For clients attending biweekly sessions, the estimated cost of 2–3 sessions per month is $500–$750.

To help you understand the potential cost of longer-term treatment, 24 sessions per year (approximately biweekly) would total $6,000, while 48 sessions per year (approximately weekly, allowing for four weeks without sessions) would total $12,000.

The appropriate frequency of therapy will depend on your individual needs, goals, and progress. We will revisit your treatment plan as our work continues to ensure that the frequency of sessions remains appropriate and helpful to you.

You will be informed in advance of any changes to my standard psychotherapy session fee. Additional professional services, when applicable, may involve separate charges, which will be discussed in accordance with my practice policies.

Your Rights Under the No Surprises Act

You have the right to request an individualized, written Good Faith Estimate before scheduling psychotherapy services. A written estimate will also be provided when required by law. The estimates above are general examples and do not replace an individualized Good Faith Estimate.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than the charges listed in your individualized Good Faith Estimate, you may have the right to initiate a patient-provider dispute resolution process.
